Decorating Glass Beads with Reactive Glass

There are so many ways to decorate your glass beads.  This 3-hour class will focus on the interesting – almost magical! -  variety of reactive glasses that contain minerals and metals.  This glass produces amazing colors, shiny metal effects, and webbing when you change the flame or where in the flame you work. 

Flameworking Instructor Sheila Checkoway builds on the fundamentals of soft glass manipulation and helps students explore these enhanced glass bead skills.  Students will complete many beads using the various techniques.  All materials are included. 

Participants must have some experience making beads with soft glass (COE 104) and should be comfortable working with the torch and able to load and wrap glass into bead shapes.

For students who would like additional practice, Guided Rental time is available from 1-4pm at $26/hour.

Registration is limited to 4 students, class fee is $175.
