Flameworking Studio Rental

Elsie Kaye Glassworks offers open studio torch and kiln rentals in our flamework studio. Students who complete Flameworking 101 (or another studio equivalent) and demonstrate competent torch skills will qualify for torch and kiln rental at the discretion of the staff.

We offer guided torch rental for beginner and intermediate levels as well as independent torch rental for those with more advanced flameworking experience.  A member of the staff will be present at all times during rentals.

If you have been approved to rent studio space at Elsie Kaye, you can reserve a day/time below.  Rental hours are available in 2 to 4 -hour blocks on Wednesdays, Fridays and occasional Saturdays.  Evening rental hours may be available upon request.  Payment is made at the studio after each rental session.

Renters must be able to operate all equipment in a competent and safe manner.   A one-time safety and studio policies lesson is required before both guided and independent rental.  All renters are required to fill out our flameworking waiver.  If you are new to flameworking studio rental, please contact us to schedule an appointment to see the studio and meet our staff before arranging rental times by emailing us at elsiekayeglassstudio@gmail.com

• Guided torch rental (for advanced beginner to intermediate levels): $26/hour (This is not for beginners - If you are completely new to glass beadmaking, please take one of our Intro/101 classes first)
• Independent torch rental (for advanced levels): $22/hour

All Rental time includes: torch, kiln space, protective eyewear, apron and tools.  The first rental session includes 5 full class rods and use of mandrels and bead release. Subsequent rental sessions include 2 full glass rods.  "Shorties"/smaller glass rods are  available at no charge. 

For longer-term rentals (after 5 sessions), students are expected to purchase their own mandrels and bead release (available for purchase from the studio or online).

Materials may be purchased at the following rates:

-COE 104 Glass Rods- $1/rod

-Glass frit - $5/ 0.5oz

-3/32" stainless steel mandrels-pack of 12 -$10

-Fusion Bead Release: 4oz. - $12  or 8 oz.  - $19

-Reactive Silver/Double Helix Glass Rods -$5/rod
