“Glass is a wonderful prism [through which to see] the natural beauty that surrounds us. I’m drawn to color and its inevitable encounter with light.” - Liliana Glenn

Beginning Handblown Glass Beads & Beyond

with Liliana Glenn

Saturday April 23 and Sunday April 24, 2022

With a glass rod in one hand and a blowing pipe in another, let’s make some hollow beads!  We're thrilled to welcome back distinguished glass artist Liliana Glenn to the studio!

In this 2-day workshop you will learn how to create and decorate hollow glass beads in a variety of ways including starting with a gather, winding and shaping a hollow form on the end of a blowpipe in a torch flame and manipulating your glass while it’s hot to obtain different results. You will learn about heat and gravity, and how to effectively use other tools to pursue your very own expressions.

From demonstrations to your one-on-one time with glass, Liliana will guide you toward achieving your own journey. There will be plenty of experimentation and discovery including that of self.  This class is suitable for experienced glass beadmakers who would like to expand their skills. Looking forward to seeing you in class!

Liliana's highly acclaimed teaching style emphasizes a playful and adaptive approach to flameworking. She builds on her individual students’ experience and interest in glass bead design, helping them realize their emerging visions one glass rod at a time

All tools and mandrels will be provided.  A limited amount of glass rods will also be provided.  Students are welcome to bring their own supplies and additional materials will be available for purchase.
