Is your teen looking for something unique and different to do over April break? Have them trade that iPad or video game for a weeklong journey into glass art! In this weeklong camp, they will learn the fundamentals of glass beadmaking using a gas and oxygen-fueled torch and soft glass.
Topics covered include safety, tools and equipment, properties of glass, manipulation of glass with a focus on heat control, annealing and glass compatibility, and finishing beads. Students will be introduced to the use of heat and gravity to shape molten glass. Each student will make between 3-5 beads each day. On the last day, students will learn how to turn their beads into finished jewelry and will leave a sterling bangle, pendants and/or key chains and those popular key lanyards. No experience is necessary and all materials are included. For students who have attended our camps before, we will be offering new projects and techniques to keep our campers engaged. We will have a 15-minute snack break (nut-free snack and drink provided).
Camp size is limited to 6 students to allow for individual attention. Minimum of 3 students is required to run the camp.
