Looking for something unique and different? Ever wonder how glass beads are made? In this introductory workshop, you will learn the fundamentals of glass beadmaking using a gas and oxygen-fueled torch and soft glass. Topics covered include safety, tools and equipment, properties of glass, manipulation of glass with a focus on heat control, annealing and glass compatibility, and finishing beads. Students will be introduced to the use of heat and gravity to shape molten glass. Each student will make between 3-5 beads each week . At the end of the session, you will make a finished pendant or keychain with the beads you’ve created. No experience is necessary and all materials are included. Open to students ages 13-18.
